Editorial Intern
Embarcadero Media's award-winning newsrooms on the Peninsula are looking for interns with a voracious appetite for news, a hunger to learn and intrepid reporting skills. Interns work in the editorial department and are introduced to all aspects of putting together a newspaper from interviewing and reporting on the issues that make a community's heart beat to seeing first-hand the process of putting together a newspaper. Writing assignments cover the breadth of hyperlocal news, from breaking news and neighborhood issues to business, arts and community features. Interns hit the ground running, writing published articles and receiving feedback.
Interns must be responsible, reliable, independent, have good writing skills and be able to write stories on deadline. Some journalism course work or experience is preferred. Interns work 15 to 20 hours per week for 10 to 13 weeks and must be able to show an academic affiliation. Interns will work for one of the following newsrooms: The Mountain View Voice, the Palo Alto Weekly, The Almanac, the Redwood City Pulse or The Six Fifty.
Interested applicants should email Editorial Director Jocelyn Dong a resume, a well-written cover letter explaining your experience and interest in journalism, and several clips. Our application deadlines are April 15 for summer internships; Aug. 1 for fall internships; Nov. 1 for winter interns; and Feb. 15 for spring internships.
